Police lights night

BIG BEND — With a touch of humor, the Big Bend Police Department is seeking help to catch a suspect who tried — and failed — to make off with an ATM. The incident unfolded at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at Richy’s Bar, S91-W22920 Milwaukee Ave.

In hopes of identifying the suspect, police turned to social media with a dose of humor, encouraging anyone — particularly former partners — who might recognize the individual or their clothing to come forward.

The police posted on Facebook titled "Attention Ex-Girlfriends: "We all know you ladies keep receipts ... now it’s time to put them to good use," the post said.

The suspect broke the patio door to gain entry and attempted to steal an ATM.

"However, in a not-so-smooth getaway, the ATM slid out of the back of a light silver Ford Escape, landing in the parking lot," the post said.

"Recognize this sweatshirt? Bought it for an ex? Know this ‘clever’ gentleman? We’re calling on anyone — especially former flames — who might recognize the suspect or clothing to come forward," the post said.

Anyone with information can call or text 262-368-0445.

"Let’s put those receipts to work, ladies," the post said.
